Youth Takeover Day is an annual opportunity for senior pupils from across Edinburgh to connect with the Edinburgh International Festival during August.

They meet Festival staff and artists from the programme and experience live performance. Youth Takeover Day allows young people from across the city to connect with like-minded peers and have a voice in the future of the Festival.

Youth Takeover Day 2023

During the 2023 Edinburgh International Festival, over thirty pupils came together to answer the question Where Do We Go From Here? and explore the future of the Festival together.

They worked with Festival staff, experienced the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in rehearsal, met with Endea Owens and attended her world premiere at the Hub.
