This programme has made a fantastic impact on my career as I have created fantastic connections with my colleagues as well as being able to perform such an exciting piece of music

Euan McDonald, Rising Stars Participant

Via an open, digital audition process, early-career musicians are supported to take the next steps in their professional careers. Over the course of one week in the lead up to August, the selected artists take part in a mentorship scheme led by established, world-leading artists. This involves rehearsing alongside their peers and mentors as they establish connections within the performing arts industry.

Rising Stars mentorship scheme culminates in a public, ticketed performance within our programme. The emerging artists can benefit profoundly from the status of one of the world’s most preeminent performing arts festivals.

Cost is eliminated as a potential barrier to participation as emerging artists are paid a fee. Travel and accommodation are also paid for and arranged by the International Festival.

As a conservatory student, I had not yet experienced the fast-paced preparation typical of professional musicians before attending this festival. The intense energy of preparing for a concert in just a few days—an exhilarating mix of excitement and nerves—was both challenging and deeply rewarding. This experience has left a lasting impression on me, inspiring a desire for more opportunities like it. It has given me a glimpse into the professional world and motivated me to pursue more performances of this caliber.

It has been the most important professional experience i have ever had. Everything was special about this project, the mentors were incredible musicians and The Hub is a unique venue to perform, so intimate and cozy, it allows a unique connection with the audience. But what felt the most important to me, was just the opportunity of being part of this wonderful festival.
