Ronald Brautigam, Esther Hoppe & Christian Poltéra
Following the dazzling insights of his widely admired 2018 International Festival recital, Dutch period keyboard player Ronald Brautigam makes a welcome return in the company of two esteemed friends and colleagues: exceptional Swiss violinist Esther Hoppe and her compatriot, cellist Christian Poltéra.
Together, Hoppe, Poltéra and Brautigam bring a similar clarity, freshness and bold authenticity to three Romantic classics of the chamber repertoire.
Schubert’s E flat Trio, D929, is one of the greatest works in the chamber repertoire, a monumental masterpiece of symphonic dimensions and emotional richness. The exuberant Piano Trio by Fanny Mendelssohn is yearning and restless yet often unfairly overlooked. In between, the three players explore the delicacy and touching simplicity of Schumann’s delightful Fantasiestücke.
