Mànran
Multi-award-winning folk supergroup Mànran have been at the heart of the Scottish traditional music scene for over a decade. The seven-piece band has brought their dynamic, boundary-pushing sound to over 30 countries.
The individual members of Mànran are all key figures on the Scottish and Irish folk scenes. Accordionist Gary Innes and multi-instrumentalist Ewen Henderson have both won Scots Trad Music Awards, while singer Kim Carnie is an in-demand singer for vocals on film and TV soundtracks, including Netflix's Outlaw King.
Collectively, the band combine vocals in Gaelic and English with a mix of traditional and modern instruments, including guitar, accordion, fiddle, flute and drums. As well as the great Highland bagpipe, Mànran plays on the Uilleann pipes: the national bagpipe of Ireland which sounds softer compared to other variations of the instrument. Their self-penned tunes and invigorating live performances have earned their reputation as one of the ‘best folk-rock bands [Scotland] has ever produced’.
