Golda Schultz & Jonathan Ware
Soprano Golda Schultz and regular pianist partner Jonathan Ware perform This be her verse, a revelatory collection of songs by often-overlooked women composers.
South African soprano Golda Schultz has quickly established her place among the world’s most respected and celebrated singers, with an extraordinary warmth to her glowing voice, and a rare emotional power to her performances. With performances at the Met, the Salzburg Festival and the Bavarian State Opera, as well as on concert stages across the world, she’s one of today’s most versatile singers and in increasing demand internationally.
Together with her regular pianist partner Jonathan Ware, Schultz has devised This be her verse, a revelatory collection of songs exploring the often-overlooked musical worlds and inspirations of women composers from Germany, France, England and South Africa, from the height of the Romantic era to the present day. Exploring themes of love, nature, folklore and belief – all from a distinctively female perspective – This be her verse concludes with a brand new three-song cycle by Kathleen Tagg and Lila Palmer, which gives the recital its title.
