Endea Owens: New Work at The Hub
Don't miss the world premiere of a new work from composer and bassist Endea Owens, performing with her acclaimed sextet.
Rising star Endea Owens is an award-winning bassist and composer, who has been mentored by some of jazz’s leading artists. She is the house bassist for The Late Show, and the 2023 MAC Music Innovator for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. With her sextet – featuring piano, bass, drums, saxophone, trumpet and trombone – she has performed at prestigious venues and jazz festivals in New York City and beyond.
In the first of two concerts at The Hub, Endea and her sextet perform her new 45-minute composition inspired by Martin Luther King’s visionary final speech, ‘I’ve Been to the Mountaintop’. This piece has been specially commissioned by the Edinburgh International Festival.
