Endea Owens
Back by popular demand, jazz icon Endea Owens returns to The Hub for the second year in a row. This time she closes the International Festival.
With roots in Detroit, the bassist and composer shot to acclaim after graduating from the Julliard School and landing the role as a band member on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Since then, Owens has won a Grammy Award and an Emmy. Some of jazz’s biggest stars have mentored her – including Marcus Belgrave – and she has played alongside Diana Ross and Solange.
Last year Owens delivered an ‘infectiously passionate and profoundly moving’ special commission that her earned her five stars in The Scotsman. Her dazzling sextet The Cookout accompanies her in this recital, performing on piano, bass, drums, saxophone, trumpet and trombone.
