The award-winning South African cellist and composer Abel Selaocoe embraces a huge range of genres and styles. He combines his cello performances with singing, body percussion and improvisation.
He has been described as ‘one of the most captivating performers the classical world can lay a claim on’ (The Guardian) and his performances have been praised for their ‘intoxicating charisma’ (BBC Music Magazine). He aims to highlight the links between Western and non-Western traditions and to open up classical music to a more diverse audience.
