AT HOME: Wayne Marshall – Edinburgh is a Story
Immerse yourself in Wayne Marshall's improvised performance inspired by Gershwin's Summertime from Porgy and Bess.
Everything at the piano was flawless in Marshall’s polished performance
There are few musicians who can match British pianist and conductor Wayne Marshall for sheer expertise, energy and verve when it comes to music blending classical and jazz. Watch as Marshall gives a surprisingly intimate performance inspired by one of Gershwin's best-loved songs from his pioneering jazz opera Porgy and Bess. Marshall performs in the largest room of Royal Collection Trust's Palace of Holyroodhouse, The Great Gallery, surrounded by historic portraits of past Scottish monarchs.
This performance is the third in our series of short films Edinburgh is a Story, produced by Glasgow-based production company Forest of Black. The films come together to create a beautiful journey through the city. Each is filmed in an iconic Edinburgh location and creates an intimate portrait of an artist featured in this year’s Festival.
