In Conversation with Gustavo Dudamel
Join us in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament for this special event hosted by the Festival of Politics.
Gustavo Dudamel is one of the world’s foremost conductors and currently the Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Dudamel conducted the Edinburgh International Festival’s Opening Event at Tynecastle in 2019. Following his appointment as the 27th Music and Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic from 2026, Dudamel returns to the Festival this summer with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. An enthusiastic believer that the arts have the power to change lives, he himself is an alumnus of El Sistema, and a vocal advocate for music education as a vehicle for social change and an instrument of global transformation.
He will discuss this with Scottish Parliament’s Presiding Officer as well as addressing the key question posed by the International Festival this year: Where do we go from here?
This event is part of the Festival of Politics. Click through for more information and to book tickets via their website.
