Caribou

Caribou brings his distinct sound to his highly anticipated International Festival debut.

Dan Snaith, aka Caribou, is a Canadian composer, musician and recording artist who fuses electronic, folktronica, neo-psychedelia shoegaze and dream pop into a sound distinctly his own. Over two decades and seven albums, the electronic auteur has been making music permeated by tales of disintegrating relationships, rejection and loss.

His 2007 album Andorra won the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and his DJ-influenced 2010 album Swim was also shortlisted. 2014’s trance-influenced album Our Love, a clear departure from his previous work, provided larger-than-life flashing-lights euphoria and received the IMPALA Album of the Year Award.

Caribou’s deeply personal new album, Suddenly, is a rich, textured and constantly evolving record, flitting between rock, trap, UK garage, disco and more. Full of 80s flair and drenched in wonderful melodies, it was an instant critical hit. He makes his International Festival debut playing songs from his extensive back catalogue.
