Edinburgh International Culture Summit
Stories from around the world demonstrate the transformational power of culture in 2020.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit is a biennial series of discussions, performances and events which brings together Culture Ministers and policy makers from around the world with experts from industry, finance, medical science and the arts, to consider how creativity provides solutions to the challenges facing society. This year, the Summit launches a special online edition in which a fantastic range of contributors including artists, thinkers and cultural influencers bring their voices and expertise to three areas of discussion – Culture and Education, Culture and Social Cohesion and Culture in Vibrant Communities.
In a series of films, podcasts and interactive panel sessions, artists, economists, educationalists, strategists, architects, medical scientists, philanthropists and Ministers of Culture come together to examine the powerful role, and transformational potential, of culture in key aspects of our lives and in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. This special edition highlights the importance of a vibrant cultural sector in sustaining resilient and open societies, examining how access to artistic practices transforms peoples and nations.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit exists to create opportunities to learn from global peers, inspiring change in cultural policy led by its five partners: British Council, Edinburgh International Festival, the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament and the UK Government.
