With a repertoire spanning more than 500 years of music, The Sixteen under founding Director Harry Christophers blend resplendent vocal colour, immaculate technique and irresistible power and passion.
They look to Italy and Portugal for their International Festival recital celebrating the splendours of Baroque and Renaissance polyphony. Lotti dazzles with drama in his moving Crucifixus, while Domenico Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater is a tour de force of vocal virtuosity. In between, The Sixteen delves into the rich choral opulence of Renaissance Portugal, from Melgás’s serene Lamentações de Quinta-Feira Santa to Rebelo’s sumptuous Panis Angelicus.
