Maxim Vengerov In Recital
Revered Russian-born violinist Maxim Vengerov is quite simply one of the outstanding performers of our era, a musician in the great Russian tradition and a major figure in today’s musical world.
Praised for his peerless technique, supreme musicality, passion and effortless virtuosity on the violin, Maxim Vengerov is also a respected conductor and music educator.
Vengerov is joined by powerful Russian pianist Roustem Saïtkoulov, a regular recital partner, for a concert looking back to the great tradition of violin virtuosos, combining landmarks of the repertoire with explosive fiddle fireworks.
Beethoven’s heroic Sonata in C minor pits violinist and pianist as equal partners in its intense drama. After lyrical sonatas by Schubert and Ravel, Vengerov closes his recital with two spectacular violin showpieces: Ernst’s Variations on ‘The Last Rose of Summer’ and Paganini’s I palpiti.
