St. Lawrence String Quartet
The St Lawrence players open their wide-ranging Festival programme with the deeply expressive, Biblically inspired Qohelet by Argentinian-born Osvaldo Golijov, and finish with the mellifluous First Quartet by Saint-Saëns, written to charm and delight.

Saint-Saëns String Quartet No 1
US composer John Adams wrote his 2008 First Quartet expressly for the St Lawrence String Quartet. He calls the St Lawrence his favourite chamber ensemble, and the surging textures and elegant lyricism he created in this witty work draw directly on the esteemed Canadian foursome’s mix of finesse and fiery power.
