The Hub Access Shuttle

Here is your guide to details on our Festival Access Shuttle Transport.

The Access Shuttle is a free car service to support access to The Hub in August. Road closures in this area prevents drop off for evening performances. The Access Shuttle is for anybody who may experience barriers when navigating the cobbled streets, busy crowds and steep hill, which surround The Hub.

The Access Shuttle will operate on Johnstone Terrace continuously before and after each evening performance at The Hub. This service is only for evenings where the road closure is in effect, as outlined in the full schedule:

The shuttle will run continuously when in operation. Please arrive with sufficient time to use this service as there may be a queue close to event start time. Passengers are seated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Access Shuttle is a large 8-seater car which has been adapted into a wheelchair accessible vehicle by Allied Mobility. It has space for six seated passengers and one wheelchair user per journey. Each journey will be approximately five minutes.

Maximum dimensions for wheelchair space – including seated user:

height – 140cm; width – 800cm; length – 106cm

There is no weight limit.

Due to issues relating to crowd safety, it is not possible to drive the Access Shuttle directly to the main door of The Hub. It will stop approximately 150m away, and a member of staff will escort you the rest of the way.

Please be aware this route is up a hill and includes a short section of cobbles - we have two wheelchairs that are available should walking the distance be a barrier to you.

Boarding the Access Shuttle – pre-show

To board the Access Shuttle before a performance, please wait at the bottom of Johnston Terrace inside the black road barriers.

A yellow flag will indicate the exact location of where boarding will happen. There will also be a Front of House person available to provide support should you need it. Please be aware there is no seating available when queuing for the shuttle and we estimate the average queue time to be 5-10 minutes.

Boarding the Access Shuttle – post-show

To board the Access Shuttle after a performance, please wait at the allocated area in the foyer of The Hub which will be indicated by an ‘Access Shuttle’ sign.

If you can’t find it our front of house team will be able to show you where it is. Seating will be available at this waiting area. When the shuttle is ready, front of house staff will guide you from The Hub to the Shuttle. The Shuttle will then drop you back off at the bottom of Johnston Terrace.

Please see map for more details.
